Somali Cat Behavior,Personality,feeding.
History
The Somali Cat is a variation of the Abyssinian cat. The Abyssinian
is a shorthaired breed but its females sometimes produced a longer-haired
cat. The Abyssinian was breed to be shorthaired so the longer-hair
is a recessive gene. These semi-longhaired Abyssinians were considered
to be inferior in the 1920s and 1930s and were just considered house
cats. By the 1960s an American breeder discovered a semi-longhaired
Abyssinian from her stud cat and was able to consistently breed for
the semi-longhair and the Somali Cat breed was established. The Somali
Cat is named after the country of Somali in Africa. The Somali Cat
should only be breed within the breed or to the Abyssinian Cat.
